FINALLY!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Had this one on my todo list for a long time. Had not figured out the proper settings for iPhone and iPad to be able to have outgoing mail appear at the recipient&#8217;s end with the same domain as that on which it was ostensibly sent. It was a port and SSL issue that, lacking a resolution, necessitated using a Gmail outgoing mail server.<\/p>\n<h2>Dreamhost Accounts<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>For Dreamhost hosted accounts, the <em>outgoing<\/em> mail server name is the same as the <em>incoming<\/em> server name, \u201cmail.<em>[domain]<\/em>.com\u201d, and both the <em>username<\/em> and <em>password<\/em> are required for both <em>incoming<\/em> <strong>and<\/strong> <em>outgoing<\/em>, with the username being the full email address (including domain name). <strong>SSL<\/strong> must be turned <strong>on<\/strong> for outgoing, and the port, though 587 by default, needs to be set to 465.<\/li>\n<li>In Advanced settings, SSL should be turned on for incoming, Authentication should be set to \u201cPassword\u201d (is, typically, by default), and the port should be 993.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Comcast (xFinity) Accounts<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Username, for both incoming and outgoing mail servers is only the first part of the email address, WITHOUT the @comcast.net.<\/li>\n<li>Password is required for both incoming and outgoing mail servers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Incoming<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Mail server is: imap.comcast.net<\/li>\n<li>SSL should be set to On (Advanced settings).<\/li>\n<li>Server port should be 993 (Advanced settings).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Outgoing<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Mail server is: smtp.comcast.net<\/li>\n<li>SSL should be set to On<\/li>\n<li>Authentication: Password<\/li>\n<li>Server port: 465<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>iPage Accounts<\/h2>\n<h3>Incoming<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Host Name: imap.ipage.com<\/li>\n<li>User Name: fully qualified email address<\/li>\n<li>Password required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Outgoing<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Host Name: smtp.ipage.com<\/li>\n<li>User Name (required): fully qualified email address<\/li>\n<li>Use SSL: On<\/li>\n<li>Authentication: Password<\/li>\n<li>Server Port: 587 (probably should be 465 &#8212; have yet to test this)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Gmail Accounts<\/h2>\n<h3>Incoming<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Mail server: (figures it out automagically by choosing Gmail from the initial account setup screen)<\/li>\n<li>SSL should be On.<\/li>\n<li>Server port: 993<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Outgoing<\/h3>\n<p>All settings are figured automagically and unchangeable by the user.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Had this one on my todo list for a long time.
